OK ladies spring is coming and it is time for a major
spring-cleaning! But don’t reach for the mop and
broom-this is a cleaning project you are sure to enjoy. It is time
to go through the make-up case or drawer and play
“toss and replace”. This is an area
that far too many women over look cleaning up. And this contributes
greatly to your health and over all sanitation of yourself and
make-up products: brushes, mascara, foundations, blushes, etc..
Makeup is a breeding ground for bacteria, particularly mascara.
Think of all the bacteria you have on your skin and then think how
often you touch your brushes to your face. We wouldn’t go a week
without washing our hands, why do we wait so long with our makeup
brushes? It is recommended to wash them at least once a week if
they are for powder applications, and every day for liquid makeup,
foundation, lip products and cream eye shadow. To wash your
brushes, simply use some mild shampoo and roll it in your hand
until it lathers. Then, rinse under water until the water runs
clear. You can also try white vinegar and water mixture is said to
work well.
According to the CDC, you should also replace your mascara at least
once every 3 months. An easy reminder: put the “throw out by” date
on the mascara with a marker so when that date comes you know you
get new mascara!
Another excellent idea is to utilize that “throw out” date to
evaluate and remove any of the unforgiveness, resentment, grudges,
or anything else that can breed bacteria in your heart and soul and
cause serious deterioration. Doing this on a regular basis will
help keep you at your very best—from the inside out!
