Are you looking for a job
or a career?
You only get a few minutes
and one chance to make a great first impression. Who are
you? Are you strong, organized and confident—don’t hesitate in
proving it. Walk into all job interviews dressed to the nines,
clean and shiny as a new penny with your head up, shoulders back
and a smile on your face. Think ahead of your power statement and
use it. Use it when you walk in, while you are there and when you
leave. And please make certain you have a firm and sincere
handshake. Your handshake speaks volumes and no one, I repeat no
one like a dead fish shake-I get shivers even thinking about
it!
Skills, experience and attitude are definite factors in getting any
job, but your interview attire is just as important. It's an
opportunity to make a good first impression with a potential
employer. Buy the best clothes you can afford for interviews.
Whether it’s a Corneliani Nailhead Executive Classic, single
breasted, charcoal pin stripe, wool suit or a black JC Penny
classic tweed sport coat and well pressed, matching, slacks, make
sure it fits well, is clean and says what you want to convey.
Polish your shoes if they are scuffed in any way. A fifteen minute
laborious shine can yield huge, lasting returns.
Most importantly know the condition of your heart prior to dressing
for any interview. When you know your personal values and adhere to
them, your decision making skills increase in strength and
certainty. Guard your heart because from it comes the issues of
life.
What’s in the heart always, comes
out of the mouth!
