In 2002, America Ferrera
made a movie,
“Real Women Have
Curves.” It was a story of a young woman who didn’t look
like others thought she should, or their idea of what they
“thought” epitomized what a real woman should look like.
The conclusion: Women have
curves.
Being a woman with curves I embrace the difference between myself
and my husband! I like when my jeans hug the curves and accentuate
the body that God gave me—even when I have felt the urge to add a
few pounds to His perfect work!
Women have round hips, waists, tummies, thighs and breasts. That is
how God equipped us for attracting men for marriage and giving
birth and feeding children. There is nothing wrong with that. As a
matter of fact if God did it…it is perfect.
Unfortunately the media and Hollywood have created a false image of
what all women should look like. We are all different and our
differences are what make us unique and beautiful. I have no desire
to look like someone else—if I did, I would not be me, and I like
myself.
It is time that we, as women, learn to love who we are and
encourage our sisters to do the same.
Do what it takes to feel good about how you look—make
better choices in your food selection, exercise and take the best
care of what God gave you. If the Creator of the
Universe finds us worthy, I am certainly going to find myself
valuable and worthy. Take inventory of all that is good about you
and you will see, God knew what He was doing when he wove you,
curves and all, in your mother’s womb!
